Overview
Postcard Jigsaw: Art Puzzles (the “App”) is a jigsaw puzzle game. Its 318 pictures, old Christmas postcards and paintings and prints made between the 1500s and the 1920s, are all built into the App, along with a short story about each one. When you finish a puzzle, the picture turns into a postcard you can turn over, and send to someone if you like. The App is built to work entirely on your device.
The short version: we do not run servers, we do not create user accounts, we do not use analytics or advertising SDKs, and nothing about how you play ever leaves your phone. The only third party involved is RevenueCat, which manages in-app purchases.
Information we do not collect
The App does not collect, transmit or store on any server:
- Your puzzles, your progress, your finished postcards, the messages you write on them, or how long you played.
- Your name, email address, phone number or any account information (there are no accounts).
- Your location. The App never asks for location permission.
- Your photo library, contacts, calendar, health data or any other data from other apps. The App never reads them.
- Usage analytics, crash reports, advertising identifiers or behavioural tracking data.
The pictures
Every picture, thumbnail and story is bundled inside the App and shown from your device. The App does not download pictures, fonts or other content from the internet, so the puzzles work offline.
Daily reminder
After you finish your first puzzle, the App asks whether you would like a reminder when the next day’s puzzle is ready. If you say yes, your phone asks for permission to show notifications. The reminders are scheduled on your device, for 6:30 pm local time; they are not sent from a server, and the App does not register your device for push notifications or create a push token.
You can turn the reminder off at any time in the App’s Settings, or turn off notifications for the App in your phone’s settings.
Sending a postcard
You can write your own message on the back of a finished postcard, up to 150 characters, and sign it. The message is saved with that puzzle on your device so you can see or change it later. It is never sent to us or to anyone else by the App.
When you choose Send card, the App draws an image of your finished postcard, with your message if you wrote one, on your device and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. What happens next is up to you and is governed by the app or service you choose: the App does not see who you send it to and keeps no copy beyond a temporary file.
If you pick Save Image in the share sheet on iPhone, iOS may ask whether the App can add photos to your library. That add-only permission lets the App save that one image; it does not allow the App to read your library, and the App does not ask to read it.
Network use
The App makes no network requests of its own. Nothing is uploaded, no configuration is fetched, and nothing is reported back to us about how you use the App.
The only network traffic comes from your app store’s purchase system and RevenueCat, described below: when the App starts, to check whether your subscription is active, and when you open the subscription screen, buy or restore. If you are asked to rate the App, the rating prompt is shown and handled by Apple or Google.
If you open the Privacy Policy or Terms of Use from inside the App, the page opens in your browser, and the server delivering it sees your IP address, as with any web page.
Data stored on your device
The following data is stored locally, in the App’s private storage on your device, and nowhere else:
- Whether you have seen the introduction screens.
- Your settings: sounds, Christmas music, vibration, showing the picture under the pieces, text size, high contrast, the daily reminder, and the number of pieces you last chose.
- Puzzles in progress: where each piece is and how long you have played, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Finished puzzles, with the date you finished them, which the postcard’s postmark shows, and any message you wrote on a postcard.
- Your daily streak, the day you first opened the App, and when you were last asked for a rating or about the reminder.
- Your purchase status, cached by RevenueCat so that Premium keeps working offline.
Deleting your data
Deleting the App removes everything it stores: your progress, finished puzzles, streak and settings, and cancels any reminders it scheduled. There is nothing on our side to delete, because nothing was ever sent to us. Postcards you sent or saved elsewhere are copies managed by those apps and are not affected. Your purchase record stays with Apple or Google and can be restored after reinstalling the App.
In-app purchases (RevenueCat, Apple and Google)
Today’s puzzle, today’s Advent calendar door in December, and any puzzle you have already started or finished are free, with every piece size and setting. Premium lets you play every puzzle on any day and open every Advent door, including ones you missed. It is an auto-renewing subscription, yearly or monthly; the yearly plan may start with a free trial. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play; we never see your payment details.
To validate purchases and keep Premium active across reinstalls, the App uses RevenueCat, a purchase management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated app user identifier, your App Store receipt or Google Play purchase token, and basic device information (device model, OS version, app version, locale). This is the minimum information needed to confirm that a purchase is active. RevenueCat does not receive your name, your email or anything about your puzzles.
RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy. Apple’s privacy policy is available at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/, and Google’s at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Children
The App is a general-audience puzzle game, rated 4+. It is made with older players in mind, but whatever the age of the person using it, the App behaves the same way and collects the same amount of information about them: none.
There are no accounts, no sign-in, no messaging, no social features, no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking, and the App gives no one, child or adult, any way to send personal information to us. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and since we collect none from anyone, there is nothing about a child for us to hold, use, disclose, sell or delete. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to us, email us and we will delete anything we find.
Purchases are made through the Apple Account or Google account signed in on the device. Parents can require approval for purchases with Ask to Buy on iPhone or purchase approvals in Google Family Link, or block in-app purchases entirely in the device settings. If a child has made a purchase without permission, contact Apple or Google to request a refund.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you on any server, requests to access, correct, export or delete your data are fulfilled entirely by you, on your device, as described above. If you have a question about your rights under GDPR, the UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or similar laws, or want to know what RevenueCat holds for your anonymous identifier, contact us and we will help.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law. We never have, and there is nothing for us to sell or share.
Security
Your progress and settings are stored in the App’s private container, protected by your phone’s app sandboxing, passcode and encryption. Communication with RevenueCat, Apple and Google uses TLS.
No app, device or transmission can be made perfectly secure. We keep the risk low by holding as little as possible and keeping it on your device, but we cannot guarantee absolute security, and you are responsible for keeping your device updated and locked with a passcode.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the App handles data, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Material changes will also be described in the release notes for the update that introduces them.
